Edward E. (Ed) Devlin has been a trustee of Hudson Economic Development
Corporation since 2004, and served as its president from 2005 - 2008.
During his tenure he grew the ranks of
HEDC. He recruited women, and
community leaders, and young executives.
He participated in the development of the City’s comprehensive plan and
lobbied for the inclusion of a chapter on economic development, which called
for an economic development strategic plan for Hudson. And, Ed spearheaded the creation of that plan. He very actively promoted the City’s hiring of a
professional, full-time, economic development director.
Ed worked day and night to keep economic development at the forefront of city government activities. His unwavering confidence was infectious. He rallied support. He attended countless meetings and
spoke out about its importance. He wrote letters. He outlined calls to action. Most importantly, he never gave
up. And, eventually, he won. And because of his efforts,
economic development and Hudson won.
Most recently, Ed championed our schools and their important
tie to economic development by serving on the Hudson City School District’s
financial advisory committee and campaigning tirelessly for passage of the
levy. It is because of Ed that HEDC is still
here today. We are grateful for his passion, his work, and his
commitment. And we are proud to stand beside him in this effort.
In his honor the trustees of HEDC established The Edward E. Devlin Scholarship for Economic Development on June 3, 2010.
