Recognizing his incredible impact on the economy of Hudson, Ohio, Sheila Miklos nominated Jim Hackney for HEDC's 2010 Economic Advocate of the Year Award.
"Jim consistently works in tandem with existing organizations to realize his vision of community-wide economic development and has become a leading advocate for preserving the historic charm of Hudson for both residents and guests to enjoy. His philanthropic efforts have served to increase resident volunteerism, which I believe makes him worthy for this kind of recognition.
From the Hudson Community Foundation to envisioning the significant impact of a restaurant festival that has become the 6th Annual Taste of Hudson destination event over Labor Day weekend (drawing 30,000 visitors with a $500,000 economic impact directly into the coffers of Hudson businesses) to Destination Hudson and the Hudson Schools Foundation, Jim displays creative leadership that earns the respect of civic and business leaders. The city is extremely fortunate and directly benefits from Jim's uncanny ability to visualize the indelible impact well-organized events and foundations provide and then produce tangible results.
Working with Jim means he is part of the team, never needing to be the face of an organization for self-serving purposes. What matters most is building a highly motivated and committed group who can facilitate the mission at hand. He gives credit where it is due and is eager to allow others to develop their leadership skills and achieve success.
Jim's tireless efforts to showcase Hudson as the unique city that it is continues to inspire me. His efforts afford residents continual pride in the cultural offerings and beauty of our city and the economic impact of his volunteerism is undeniable. Jim is highly deserving of our thanks and this accolade." - Sheila Miklos
